Jason L'Abbe, a potter located in Waterloo, Ontario, graduated from the ceramics program at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario. He has worked extensively in Ontario and Western Canada, and has exhibited in Canada and the United States. L'Abbe works primarily in the medium of stoneware and porcelain. He states that the unique textures and visual qualities of his glazes are produced from wood ash that is gathered from the kiln. "Spontaneous organic patterns" on the piece are created when the minerals, absorbed by the tree during its lifetime, are released upon burning.
