Collection: Iris Dorton - Blue Iris Studio
Iris had a career in the health-care industry for over 15 years before she discovered her passion for clay while living in Vancouver in 2002. She pursued this passion full-time and moved back to Ontario in 2003 where she completed a Ceramics Certificate program at The Haliburton School of the Arts. Iris loves the transformation of soft, malleable clay into a piece of strong functional pottery while using many steps and skills throughout the process. Her techniques include water-etching, stamping and carving to impart natural inspirations to her pieces. Today, Iris’s work is influenced by the contemporary studio pottery movement and by its leading practitioners in the U.K. and Australia. Iris lives in Guelph, Ontario where she owns and operates Blue Iris Studios – a studio, showroom and teaching space.
