Collection: Craig Hellemond
Rogue Wave Glassworks is the creation of Craig and Carla Hellemond and has been operating for ten years. Craig studied in New Jersey under world-renowned hollow figurative sculptural artist, Joe Luisi. He earned an associate degree at the Scientific Glassblowing School at Salem Community College after which he began his career creating lab apparatus. Intrigued by her husband’s achievements, Carla studied for a year and became a designer in her own right. They returned to Canada in 1998 and grew their company selling wholesale. Seeking a more direct link to the public and the art community, they decided to sell at craft shows. This led to their work being sold nationally and internationally through juried trade shows, galleries and custom collaboration. In some of their work they collaborate with First Nations artist Ivan Thomas, a Nuu-chah-nulth born carver.
