Collection: Chari Cohen

As a clay artist who creates both sculptural and functional work, Chari respects the deep history embedded in the traditional uses of pottery, while also being intrigued by the flexibility and possibilities of clay in the creation of contemporary sculpture.

“Growing up in southern Alberta, where the mountains meet the prairies, I have been deeply touched by its dramatic landscape, which nurtures my life and informs my art practice. I am interested in creating work that reflects the wonders found in the wilderness and in the seams where humans and nature interact. It is my hope that my sculptures can act as touchstones for us in our busy modern lives - to awaken the possibility of connection with each other and with the sacred land on which each and every one of us stands on this earth.”
