Thomas is a professional studio potter, a ceramic instructor and a writer based in Warsaw, Ontario. His work celebrates the functional object, its history and associations. The sources of his inspiration are eclectic – early Ontario pottery, central Asian tribal rugs and Song Dynasty pottery from China. Thomas implements the functionality of contemporary wares from artists who “continue to challenge and update the traditions, while maintaining a utilitarian based mandate”. Thomas’s pieces are suitable for everyday use: microwave, food use and dishwasher. However, do not use on the stovetop or in the oven and avoid extreme temperature change.
