Much of my inspiration I find in nature: horizons, geological formations, snow landscapes and in stillness. My work explores archetypal themes and celebrates simple everyday pleasures – the small things that are meaningful to us all.
Clay has an inherent rhythm of textures, movement and dialogue – its expression revealed with every touch that it receives. And each rhythm is unique – like a breath, taken.
When working with clay I like to reveal the push and pull of our dialogue. It is a balance of voices, with the natural expression of clay, my inspirations and happy accidents coming together in a pot or sculpture – like a drop of glaze that suddenly breaks free, running down the slope of a bowl.
